Restorative yoga is a passive yoga class, where we sit in poses for approximately six to eight minutes. Restorative is incredibly important for those who find that it is a challenge to sit still – as it allows us to truly let go of our anxieties. We slowly release tension in areas where we carry our physical and emotional stress: low back, neck, hips, and chest. While in the studio we usually use props, at home we can use pillows, blankets, and the wall!
Why Restorative?
Sure, sitting in one pose for more than five minutes seems intimidating, right?! We are so used to being on the go! Restorative yoga not only gives our body an opportunity to slowly release tension, but it also allows our minds to quiet and focus on the breath. The more we restore, the more we reset, the more we rejuvenate.
